Oak Tree With Decaying Stem Pollarded

Oak tree heavily pollarded in Flixton. It wasn't a question of will the tree fail, it was a question of when. There had been some very stormy weather recently, so the decision was made to cut it back to make it safe.

As you can see the video footage of the inside of the tree showed heavy decay through the main stem, only the thin outer surface was supporting the structure of the tree. Oak is phenomenally strong, but this was going to fail at some point in the future.

If it had failed it would have taken down nearby telegraph wires in it's orbit and also potentially damaged nearby cars.

On the day of the job, the client was away. but access was easy. There was only 1 car that was parked in close proximity, we couldn't locate the owner so we just worked around it.

Everything was chipped and removed and logs were left for the client in the garden as requested. There was no damage to the surrounding hedge and the public path to the front was left clean and tidy.

A hot day, with an early start and we completed the job by mid afternoon. The client later rang to say they were over the moon.

“ These guys were amazing, we left in the morning at 7.30am and when we got back home at 5.30pm. The job was done, our oak tree had been reduced. The tree was a big worry, the main stem was essentially hollow and decaying so it was only a matter of time before it failed. There was multiple telegraph wires that would have been brought down if it did. Over the years the branches were also steadily cutting out the light to the front garden. The transformation has been amazing, everything is so much brighter.

These guys were super professional and quick. All the brash waste was chipped on the day and taken away and the wood was left in a pile.

There was no damage to the surrounding hedge or to a baby apple tree my partner had planted below the Oak. Everything was left clean and tidy.

I have a chainsaw myself , but this sort of job takes professionals. There is no way I could have done this. You need experts and manpower.
