Ash Trees Infected With Ash Die Back And A Cherry With Decaying Cavity

Llanrwst, North Wales

3 Ash trees infected with ash die back and one cherry with a decaying cavity.

The trees were dismantled using a crane to lower the cut sections of the trees to the ground where they were cut to smaller sections and chipped.

A crane was used for 'safety and speed of dismantling all 4 trees'.

As the integrity of the trees can be compromised with ash die back, it is safer to lower the climber into the tree than for him to climb it from the ground.

Double chains were used to ensure each limb is extra secure especially as the strength of Ash trees infected with Ash Die back are uncertain.

Great care was taken to avoid the main power cable that was adjacent to the trees and property.

Using a crane allows you remove larger sections of the tree at each time. The last cut on stem of the first ash tree weighed 2.2 tonnes.

Dismantling the cherry tree, you can see a 1.5 tonne stem with brash being lowered to be chipped. You can see the decay in the centre of the remaining stump.

Feedback

Our situation posed a series of complex challenges to getting the work required done. All options were assessed and discussed, risks identified and mitigated, and a plan of action drawn up.

When it came to actioning; everything went like clockwork. Every team member knew what they needed to do.

Pleasant, knowledgeable, professional, efficient. I would have them back, and would certainly recommend.
